Asphalt Paving Crew
We are now hiring crews to be part of our paving crews. We are looking for an experienced roller operator, an experienced lute person, and laborers. If you are interested in applying please come in to our office located in Newberry, FL or fill out the application on our website and submit it.
Dump Truck Drivers
As one of our drivers you will:
- Safely drive and operate a dump truck in the Gainesville metro area.
- Follow all traffic laws and adhere to all D.O.T. safety guidelines.
- Understand directions to locations as well as dumping instructions, making timely and accurate deliveries.
- Drive on city streets and on the Interstate and always do so in a safe manner.
- Evaluate road and surface conditions and use good judgement at all times.
- Drive into rock quarries and into various dirt pits.
- Navigate active construction sites, driving and backing, at times, into somewhat tight spaces.
- Make deliveries to both commercial and residential properties
- Deliver fill dirt, various grades of stone and rock, excavation debris and/or asphalt.
- Keep accurate records of time and all trip details including job codes and phase codes; materials loaded; pick up and dump details.
- Perform daily AM & PM inspections of your truck, routinely checking fluids, tires and lights.
- Report any needed maintenance or repairs to the Foreman and/or onsite Shop team.
- Be responsible for keeping your truck clean inside and outside.
- Maintain a positive attitude towards fellow drivers, Watson team members, contractors and customers.
- Be flexible and responsive to changing work assignments.
This position requires a Florida CDL class A driver’s license and a clean driving record.
Previous dump truck driving experience is preferred; however, any previous commercial driving experience will be considered.
Occasionally there are opportunities to work on weekends and overnights when projects impact major roads.

Equipment Operators
ESSENTIAL ABILITIES, DUTIES, AND RESPONSIBILITIES (Other duties may be assigned as required):
Operate heavy equipment safely, productively and efficiently.
The following machines, tools, and equipment are commonly, but not always, associated with the performance of this position. Actual machines, tools, and equipment used will vary.

Follow site grading and operations plans, read grade stakes and operate in a medium to fine grade environment.
Comply with the Operations & Maintenance Guide for our core and secondary Heavy Equipment.
Possess a working knowledge of construction site safety
Perform a daily heavy equipment walk-around inspection and preventive maintenance responsibilities
Clean, maintain, and secure all equipment as directed by legislation, policies, and procedures.
Ensure equipment is safely and securely stored

Education/Experience/Skills
- At least 3 years’ experience in the construction industry as a heavy Equipment Operator
- Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
- Ability to use common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form
- Ability to maintain daily records
- Communication Skills – Must be able to understand information, ideas, direction and perform the task or project discussed
Requirements

- The Employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. The Heavy Equipment Operator has a physically strenuous and demanding job. He/she will be lifting, pulling and managing heavy equipment and objects
- Specific vision abilities required by this job included distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus
Work Environment (The following environmental/atmospheric working conditions are commonly, but not always, associated with the performance of this position. The actual working conditions will vary)
- This job could require pushing, compacting, grading, loading or hauling waste or dirt and could require working alone or teaming with other heavy equipment operators. The job could also require operating around other Contractor’s trucks at the working area.
- Employee must perform job responsibilities safely in a busy sometimes, stressful environment.
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts.
- The employee is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions; fumes or airborne particles and vibration.
- The noise level in the work environment is usually loud
- My be required to work weekends and holidays

Laborer
Duties include but not limited to the following
- Assist in Everyday checking all oils and fluids prior to starting and add as needed and grease equipment daily. Use a rag and wipe of excess grease so it does not keep onaccumulating all over the equipment and place rags in a bucket so they can be brought back to shop and cleaned thru the uniform service. Air pressure must also be checkedand if the tires are low then inflate to the recommended PSI.
- Assist in removing all trash from the equipment at the end of every day and place in a trash container so it is not thrown all over the job. The floor area of the machine shall be swept at the end of each day as well.
- Assist in cleaning tracks out at the end of everyday.
- Responsible for picking up all tools throughout the day or when you are done for the day and return them to lock box or truck in an organized manner.
- If you use another crew’s tools, then you communicate with them when you are obtaining the tools and it is your responsibility to return them. After the tools arereturned you must call them and verify in fact that they did receive the tools back.

Mechanics
High school diploma/GED required
ASE certification preferred but not required
3+ years of automotive repair experience
Valid driver’s license
Excellent communication skills
Knowledge of tools and equipment required to conduct all repairs Ability to operate diagnostic tools required
- Keeps equipment available for use by inspecting and testing vehicles; completing preventive maintenance such as, engine tune-ups, oil changes, tire rotation and changes, wheel balancing, replacing filters.
- Maintains vehicle functional condition by listening to operator complaints; conducting inspections; repairing engine failures; repairing mechanical and electrical systems malfunctions; replacing parts and components; repairing body damage.
- Verifies vehicle serviceability by conducting test drives; adjusting controls and systems.
- Complies with state vehicle requirements by testing engine, safety, and combustion control standards.
- Maintains vehicle appearance by cleaning, washing, and painting.
- Maintains vehicle records by recording service and repairs.
- Keeps shop equipment operating by following operating instructions; troubleshooting breakdowns; maintaining supplies; performing preventive maintenance; calling for repairs.
- Contains costs by using warranty; evaluating service and parts options.
- Keeps supplies ready by inventorying stock; placing orders; verifying receipt.
- Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading technical publications.
- Accomplishes maintenance and organization mission by completing related results as needed.
